Shows a Vintage Japanese Imari porcelain plate 18”. Imari was a style of porcelain originating from Arita, Japan, named after the port from which it was shipped. Produced in the Arita area of the Hizen Provence in Japan. Characterized by a Rick palette, typically featuring underglaze blue, over glaze red, & gold accents designs often incorporate traditional Japanese motifs such as flowers, birds, and landscape. Production of Imari porcelain began in the 17th century after Kadin clay was discovered in Arita. Some modern Aritaware is dishwasher safe, older or antique pieces should be hand washed with care to preserve the delicate glazes and gold accents. 18”
