Greece, where philosophy and democracy were born, has never ceased to converse with its own history. From the fall of that great empire to the massive tourism, it has moved forward under the constant presence of the ruins of what once was. It endures its crises as one might traverse a long myth, with pain, but also with meaning. Today, its streets speak, sometimes with anger, sometimes with art. The graffiti does not deface; it expresses. Discontent is not defeat, but awareness. And the tourism that floods its squares, though imperfect, is also a testament to a world still seeking answers in ancient stones. These people have not forgotten what they once taught the world: that even in decay, there can be dignity, and in chaos, beauty. This photo diary offers a raw and timeless vision of what the tourist experience looks like in this country. To achieve this, I used six different disposable cameras, an essential item in the suitcases of travellers during the 1990s. Single Use Greek Experience is an experimental journal that seeks to frame the concept of tourism, from the camera itself to the content it captures, the sense of a country living off the past. It aims to give soul to point-and-shoot photography, embracing the limitations faced by those who use this kind of camera. An exclusive series of photographs, presented in this limited printed edition of fifty copies, taken in Greece during September 2024.
