A collection of works by Luigi Ghirri, a pioneer of color photography in Italy. Published in conjunction with the exhibition held at "Casa Mutina Milano" in Italy from May to November 2021.
The Italian tile brand "MUTINA," with its vision that "tiles are art," has collaborated with designers, architects, illustrators, and artists to bring a fresh perspective to the world of tiles. As part of its corporate activities, the company holds exhibitions at "Casa Mutina" in Milan, its showroom and exhibition space, collaborating contemporary artists' works with tiles and actively supporting contemporary art. This "MUT Books" is a series of books accompanying the exhibition project named "Mutina for Art," all bound in the same small format and cross-bound hardcover. In addition to the works and exhibition scenes, it includes essays and reflections by curators, and interviews with artists. This exhibition, curated by Sarah Cosulich, focused on the photographic works of the author, owned by CEO Massimo Orsini. The author's photographs offer us a way of looking at reality that is both suggestive and innovative. The works intertwine the author's private visual language with the ability to express the "outside," and are given form for symbolic and experiential explanations related to human topography. A wide range of works are gathered, from conceptual works created in the 1970s and the "Atlas" and "Stil-Life" series, to images of street advertisements and everyday expressions that weave together nature and "artificial" spaces. The exhibition also introduces the pursuit of landscapes made in the 1980s, with images from the photographic journey recorded in "Paesaggio Italiano" and other travelogues on display. The exhibition features ceramic displays alongside the images, creating an interaction. The tile collection "DIN," designed by Konstantin Grcic, is used.
