Antique Indian Mughal wedding box with handpainted panels. These boxes were used as part of a bride's dowry containing fabrics, jewelry, family heirlooms and such. Mughal refers to the miniature paintings and Rajput folk art. The panels depict Hindu dieties and flowers. Estimated to have been made in the late 19th to the early 20th century.

• Intricately hand-painted and laquered design
• Durable wooden construction of either teakwood or rosewood
• Hinged lid with metal closure (no lock) and metal handle on top
• Raised on small legs for stability

Condition - Paint is chipping in places, there are a couple areas where wood is splitting, but still very much sturdy and intact. Metal parts show tarnishing. See all photos.
