Bronzed Metal Relief Plaque of Dante and Beatrice. In great condition. The figures are intricately crafted with medieval Italian garb and Florentino Lilies on their outfits. They are both shown in profile, with Dante looking firmly ahead and Beatrice nodding down with her eyes closed.
Dante's love and infatuation with Beatrice and its influence upon his work are both legends. Their names are engraved on the front bottom of the medallion. The back is engraved PR with a seal of (the artist's?) face, and has a hook for easy hanging. I believe these dates from the late 19th century. An amazing deal on an amazing piece of art!
